Jack: Interstate Investor
With limited knowledge of the growing Southeast Queensland property market but a strong desire to invest, Sydney-based investor Jack started the search for a local buyer’s agent to gain a greater advantage. After receiving a referral from his mortgage broker and having a Discovery Call with Boyd, Jack engaged Property Navigation to represent him through the property purchase.
The brief was clear. Jack wanted a well-established property in a good location that would pay for itself over the long-term and eventually put extra money in his pocket. With plans to increase his property portfolio over the coming years, a key motivation for this purchase was to ensure that this would be an investment that would help him get to the next property faster.
We found a three-bedroom, one bathroom, two-car garage home on an 800m2 block with mountain views in the suburb of Holmview. Knowing that the suburb has had a steady growth rate over the last five years, it met all of the requirements in Jack’s brief.
It also came with an added opportunity, given the size of the block. In the future, Jack can choose to demolish the existing house and build a larger home or subdivide and build two homes on 400m2 blocks, significantly increasing the value of his investment.
We secured the property at market value, and a tenant was quickly found after introducing Jack to a property manager. The property has a current rental yield of 4.4%.
