Adam: Interstate Investor

Adam didn’t come to Property Navigation as a first-time buyer. He’d already bought two investment properties the hard way — without using a buyer’s agent.

“I purchased a couple properties prior… I researched everywhere. Did my due diligence, spoke with a lot of people and looked at a lot of properties, which was a ton of work.”

He bought his first investment in Brisbane.

“It made good rent and wasn’t really costing me a lot on repairs because it was pretty tidy… but it didn’t really do much for 10 years because Brisbane was a bit of a sleeping giant.”

That’s where the frustration set in.

“In that time frame… I could have purchased in another area that I was interested in… and then five years later I would have been much better off… That sort of did my head in a little bit.”

It cost him time. 

Nevertheless, Adam did what most investors do — he doubled down and went again.

“I saved my arse off and bought another place on the Central Coast … I was driving up there, looking at about 10 places a weekend… it was lot’s of work but we got the purchase finalised just before COVID hit.”

“Now those bargains aren’t really close by anymore… you’ve really got to know other markets, whether it be Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne or wherever.”

“I just don’t have the time or the information to know those areas anymore… that’s what made me think to get a buyer’s agent because that’s what they do on a daily basis. They’ve got access to whatever data they have — and for me to get that, I’d have to do a lot of research… time I don’t have.”

Adam’s decision came through a trusted referral from his long-time mortgage broker.

“I’ve known my broker for years… since I started investing. He’s such a good guy… very professional. And he doesn’t leave any stone unturned… He is surgical.”
